That’s right 40% off. $329 for a full year of everything Adventure Rock has to offer. If you have a family, the first additional member is $240 and each additional member is $60. Memberships must be purchased in person. Current members may renew there membership any time during our Anniversary week.

Thank you for you interest in our Groupon.  Our goal is to make you fall in love with the sport of climbing as much as we have.   We want you to know that today’s offer is a great deal, but to make this as easy, and as user friendly as possible please read this post.  We have broken this post into three sections: What’s the deal, How to redeem and F.A.Q’s.

What’s the deal?

On The Rocks class-This is a one time three hour class that will teach you the basics of climbing-knots, use of our Clip’n Go stations, climbing commands, harnessing, belaying (holding on to the rope for your partner), learning to move up the wall and climbing technique.

Six Week Membership-This include full access to our facility with rental gear(harness, chalk bag, climbing shoes and a belay device).   We are open 9am-10pm- 7 days a week,  so you can get in a lot of climbing in a  six weeks.

How Do I Redeem?

  1. Call Adventure Rock (262-790-6800) at least 24 hours before you would like to take your class.  We offer our On The Rocks class on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 6pm-9pm and Sundays from 12pm-3pm.  When you call, have a couple of dates in mind, we have added room in our classes but we are expecting them to fill up quickly.
  2. When you call please give us your Name, Phone number, Groupon number and the date you would like to take your class.  That’s it.  Now you need to show up on the date of your class.
  3. On the day of your class you will need a few things; comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement (don’t worry about your shoes, we provide climbing shoes), your Groupon and a whole lot of excitement to jump into the sport of rock climbing.
  4. Try to show up 15 minutes early for your class.  We have some paper work for you to fill out.  We will ask you to fill out a AR_Release and your membership form.
  5. Have a great class.  Our staff are super at making people feel comfortable, relaying their enthusiasm for the sport and teaching folks the skills they need to become rock climbers.
  6. At the end of your class pick up your membership packet and go home to rest your forearms.
  7. Come back and put your skills to use. Repeat as much as you would like for the next six weeks.

FAQ’s

Do I need need any experience?

No, we want folks who have never climbed before.  We want to be able to show you the “ropes.”  That being said, we welcome all of you who took a climbing class in college and are interested in getting back into it.

No, although it is great to climb with a friend, it is not necessary at Adventure Rock.  We have 17 auto-belay stations that will allow solo climbers to get in a great workout and tons of climbs.

Are their age restrictions?

Yes, this is meant for climbers 14 years old and up.

Can I do it even if I am afraid of heights?

Adventure Rock has lots of  climbing terrain of varying  heights and difficulties.  We are also  great at calming nerves and focusing climbers on the climbing and not the heights.

Do need a lot of upper body strength?

No,  climbing is a great full body work out, because of  our ability to make climbs different difficulties any climber can get on the wall.

What if  I have my own gear?

Great, you should use it. Unfortunately,  we don’t offer any compensation for unused portions of your Groupon.

When does my membership start?

Your membership starts the day after you take OTR.

How many can I buy?

You can buy one for you and one for a friend.

Quick On The Drobot

January 28,2012

Quick on the Draw is Adventure Rock’s huge annual climbing celebration and competition.  Do not miss this event. Climbers register for one of four difficulty divisions based on their approximate on-site ability (what the can can climb from start to finish without hanging on the rope).   Climbers will have 7 routes and 5 boulder problems to attempt.  Points on each problem will be awarded based on their progress up the wall(the higher you get the more points your awarded).  This comp is a great way to challenge yourself  on some of the best indoor routes you will every climb, while hanging with folks who climb at the same level as you.  No matter if you have done a competition or not, you will have a blast at the comp.

Download the registration form here.

Still not convinced, read this article by Rockman

Check out the video from last year.

This January 28rd, 2012, Adventure Rock will be hosting it’s 13th Annual Quick On The Draw climbing competition (Q on the D).  It is Adventure Rock’s largest and most fun events.  Each year the competition grows and we have approximately 50% of the climbers return from one year to the next.  Rockman attributes the competition’s success to several things: fun routes for all ages, sizes and abilities, clear and fair rules, consistent judging, great t-shirts and the great value you get.  Every year we still have to twist the arm’s of the other 50% of competitors into competing.   Here is a list of  my typical responses to why you should do the comp:

  1. It is only $35.
  2. For $35 you get a T-shirt, chalk, drink, cliff bar, stickers, a magazine, dinner (or lunch) and to get first crack at the best routes we set all year.
  3. I know you don’t think climbing should be competitive, but it is, every time you come into the you are competing to send a route.  At Q on the D it is the same thing except you are doing it with lots of people in a similar skills as you.
  4. You have plans that weekend?  That’s funny because ______________ just called and said that they canceled that weekend and you should make other plans.
  5. You will have a blast.  It so cool, you walk into the and it is totally different place.  You will look around and get butterflies in your stomach cause you are scared even if you climb here four days a week.
  6. It will be the best work out you get all year.  When you typically come into the gym you do a few routes and chat, maybe do a couple of boulder problems.  At the comp you get a list of routes you have to do.  You will have to do 7 routes and 5 boulder problems at least once.  You will be so fried you won’t even be able to open your car door.
  7. It is January in Wisconsin, what else are you going to do?
  8. You will climb harder than you ever do because you are forced to climb things you don’t know the grade of.  A week after the comp you will come into the gym a say “whoa, I sent that in the comp and it is a an ___a/b.”
  9. You will not look like a fool and you are good enough.  We have divisions for all abilities and you compete with people of the same difficulty so you won’t look foolish.
  10. I know you can’t climb an  ____a/b, we award points for any part of the route you do.  Even if you only get to the second hold of a route you still get points.

Don’t make me go through this.  Do you know how hard it is to convince 100 people to sign up?  If people would just listen to Rockman and sign up, I would spend a lot more time and energy on making the comp more awesome.

See you on the 28th of January, you should have no real compelling reason to be absent.
