The Details
Quick on the Draw has become one of the largest climbing competitions in the Midwest. We think it is because we run a fun, fair competition for climbers of any age or ability. Here are some of the details:
- Climbers of any age can compete (climbers compete based ability level).
- Climbers register for one of four divisions based on their on-sight ability (what grade routes they can climb from the start of a route till the finish without falling or resting on the rope).
- Climbers will have up to 3 chances to climb 7 routes and 5 boulder problems of varying difficulties.
- Points will be awarded based on how high a climber gets on a route (climbers will not get to the top of all of their routes but they get points anyway).
- There is no lead climbing in Recreational and Intermediate divisions. Advanced has 2 climbs to lead and Open will lead all of their routes.
- Advanced and Open compete to get into finals. Finals will be at 6:00pm.
- All climbers will get fed by Marty’s Pizza after they climb.
- Climbers that are still not convinced should read Rockman’s blog post about the comp.
- Only 60 competitors per division.

The Volunteers
This competition could not happen without the help of an army of volunteers committed to making sure all of the competitors have a good time. If you think you will not be competing and want to give up a day to help for not much more than a pat on the back, a couple slices of pizza and a cool t-shirt, please let us know, we could use your help.
